Islamic Society of Vaughan (ISV) is a federally incorporated non-profit organization, established on July 28th, 2017. It is managed by an elected Board of Directors, comprising of seven Directors and an Operations Council (Shura) of twelve members. The immediate objectives of ISV are to build a masjid and an Islamic community centre in the City of Vaughan. Presently, ISV operates on leased premises of about 2,500 square feet, located at Unit 47, 9100 Jane Street. It is located next to Vaughan Mills, a major Retail Outlet Mall in Vaughan. The premises is mainly used for the five daily prayers and Jum’uah prayers for the Sunni Muslim population, and those who work in its neighborhood. It also holds Quranic teaching classes for children ages 6- 14 on weekday evenings and Islamic learning of aqeedah, fiqh and supplications on Sundays.
EDUCATION
WEEKLY QURAN CLASSES :
Monday to Thursday evenings from 5:30-7:30pm. For boys and girls 6-14 years of age. Currently, two classes are offered: one on Mondays & Wednesdays and the other on Tuesdays & Thursdays.
For each class the maximum number of students is limited to 20 per group. The students are taught in groups and when required the teacher provides individual coaching to students. The teacher is a qualified and experienced Hafiz -e-Quran.
The students are introduced to the Arabic alphabet, short word structure, and proper Arabic pronunciation. Further they start gradual learning and memorization of short surahs from Juz Amma (30th Chapter). Advanced students are helped with tajweed and memorizing bigger surahs from Juz Amma.
SUNDAY ISLAMIC CLASSES:
Every Sunday from 11:45 am - 1:45 pm.
This class is conducted by our dedicated voluntary Imam, Sh. Ashur Dozan. The focus of this class is to teach the students of ages 6-14 the basics of fiqh, tauheed, and supplications and manners. They are taught the etiquettes of wudu and prayer. In addition, they are taught about proper clothing and attire during prayer and worship. Furthermore, the students are provided help with memorizing supplications for prayers. They are also shown videos on TV and from the internet for various parts of the curriculum including some Islamic history. The class also teaches how to deal with other children, parents and elders. Sh. Ashur Dozan is assisted by other voluntary teachers and volunteers for general help.
These classes are being offered for free.
